Company’s Proposal Leads with 8.6% Top-Rate Wage Increase for Largest Group
The Company and Union bargaining committees reconvened on Thursday, September 11, to continue negotiations for a new contract covering dry grocery associates at Smith’s Las Vegas Distribution Center (LVDC). Below are a few more details about our latest wage and health care proposals.
What’s New
In the last day of this week’s bargaining session, the Company and Union exchanged updated economic counterproposals. Here’s a quick look at what’s new in our proposal:
Hourly Wage Increases
- +8.6% at ratification for top-rate associates in the largest classification.
- +14.1% total increase in top-rate hourly rates for largest group over the three-year agreement.

- +5.9% increase after one year anniversary for those moving through wage scales.

Healthcare Costs
- Cap at 15% of plan costs during the life of the agreement (currently up to 19%).
- Locking in at this rate for three years protects your paycheck even if premiums rise.
Consider This: Putting Our Proposal in Perspective
- The current average hourly rate for dry grocery associates at LVDC is $24.89 per hour.
- The average hourly rate for associates at the LVDC is 35% higher than those in similar Stocker and Order Filler roles in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Statistical Area.

What Else Happened This Week
- We also reached a tentative agreement on language items related to jury duty.
- Company and Union agreed to meet again on Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1.
